The Bossier Parish Water and Technical Emergency Response (W.A.T.E.R.) Task Force has completed its mission of helping south Louisiana flood victims.

According to the Bossier Sheriff's Office, the team of Bossier deputies and firefighters from South Bossier Fire District #2 and Benton Fire District #4 arrived safely back home yesterday afternoon. The group completed about 20 rescue, evacuation and welfare missions and brought roughly 500 residents to safety.

The 15 deputies and 20 firefighters conducted flood rescue and evacuation missions in south Louisiana during their six-day deployment.

The sheriff's office says deputies initially responded to New Iberia to conduct rescue operations, but the entire task force concetrated its efforts in the Baton Rouge area from Sunday through Wednesday. The team worked in heavily-flooded Denham Springs, Walker and other nearby areas.

Tuesday, the team concentrated solely on the community of Maurepas in Livingston Parish, which experienced significant flooding.
