Five years ago this weekend, 6 young people drowned in the Red River. Brothers 18-year-old Litrelle Stewart, 15-year-old Latevin Stewart, and 17-year-old LaDairus Stewart drowned. 13-year-old Takeitha Warner, and her siblings, 14-year old JaMarcus Warner and 17-year-old JaTavious Warner all died in the tragedy. As a result of this horrible incident, more than 9000 people have learned to swim through a community wide effort called Project Swim.
