47th Annual Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast Is This Saturday
When I think of pancakes, I think of my Dad. He was the king of pancakes in my home growing up. If he wasn’t making his famous homemade biscuits for breakfast, he was making pancakes.
You might not know this, but I have 5 brothers. They can eat a lot of pancakes. But they were all late sleepers, as was my Mom. So on Saturday mornings, me and my Dad would be the only ones awake and he would ask me if I wanted him to whip up a batch of pancakes. Of course, the answer was always “yes”.
He and I would sit at the table and eat our pancakes and sometimes, he would even sneak a coffee my way. Those are some special memories.
I’ll be thinking about him when I pop in on the Kiwanis Club’s 47th Annual Pancake Festival which is happening this Saturday. This is one of Shreveport’s iconic events.
It’s all happening at Riverview Hall from 8am-noon.
All of the money raised at the event is used to support Key Clubs and Builders Clubs in area high schools and middle schools. Some of the money will also fund programs in our elementary schools, as well.
Not only will you be able to get pancakes, but you will get sausage and coffee. Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door.
There is also a Kiwanis Kids Carnival for the youngsters which includes balloons, face painting and much more.
