Which Louisiana Buc-ee’s Will be the First to Open?
The entire landscape of Northeast Louisiana is expected to change after Buc-ee's announced that they are opening a new location in Ruston, La. Construction began in 2023, with the new location to be built just off I-20 at the Tarbutton Exchange exit, near Ruston Junior High School.

The Ruston location was originally scheduled to open around the holidays of this year, (2025), but has been delayed due to final approval of the I-20 interchange modification plan. Read more about the delay HERE. Officials are hopeful they will be able to open in December of 2025, but more than likely, they're now looking at not being able to open until early 2026.
Buc-ee's Economic Impact to Ruston and Lincoln Parish
The new 74,000 square foot Ruston location is expected to create over 200 new, local jobs and generate sales tax revenue, as well as increase visitors and tourists to the local area. The new Buc-ee's will be located on 30 acres, and feature 120 gas pumps and everything that Buc-ee's customers have come to expect, like the BBQ sandwiches, large selection of beef-jerky, candy, and snacks, and of course all the Buc-ee's themed merchandise.
Buc-ee's Then Announced a Second Louisiana Location
But since the announcement of the Ruston location, Buc-ee's corporate announced a second Louisiana location in Lafayette, in south Louisiana.
The new Lafayette store is set to be located at the corner of Louisiana Avenue and I-10. The Lafayette location is very similar to the Ruston location with a 74,000 square foot store featuring 120 gas pumps. Like the Ruston location, the Buc-ee's in Lafayette is also hoping to be open by December 2025. So it seems, the race is on.
