Thompson told the panel he does not know why he did what he did. He has served 21 years of his sentence.

Has Thompson Tried to Seek Rehabilitation?

The report outlined by the panel showed Thompson has very limited programs while he has been locked up. Thompson told the panel he is not a drug addict and does not need help with that. He also says he does not have an anger problem and does not need anger management.

The warden at the David Wade Correctional Center told the panel Thompson has had 6 write-ups.  She says Thompson does have a plan to live with a brother in Shreveport if he’s released.

Thompson was asked how many victims he has over the course of his lifetime.  He did not really answer that question. The record provided to the parole board is more than 180 pages.

When Did Thompson Life of Crime Start?

It’s unclear how Thompson began breaking the law, but his serious legal troubles began in the later 70’s and early 80’s. He was a key suspect in a high-profile murder case in New Jersey from 1984. But he was acquitted in that case.

Assistant D.A. Richard Ray from Bossier Parish described the Thompson crime spree by telling the panel in 2003 there was an armored car heist where several individuals led by Thompson robbed an armored car in Shreveport of more than $700,000 dollars. The suspects were armed with semi-automatic weapons. They were wearing ski masks. A Shreveport police officer chased the car into Bossier City from Shreveport, Thompson instructed one of the younger members of the group to shoot the “m- f’er”. One of the shots his officer Mark Sharbono in his arm.

Ray says Thompson has not expressed any remorse for his crimes.

He also reminded the board Thompson has admitted to a minimum of four murders. He has actually confessed to the 1984 contract killing of Maria Marshall in Ocean County New Jersey. He was acquitted in that case.

Ray says Thompson is “an extreme danger to those who have testified against him and is a danger to the public.” Ray says Thompson is a known contract killer. Based on his history, we urge this panel to deny his parole.
