Police have charged two people for multiple vehicle break-ins in southeast Shreveport.

Police say just after 5AM on August 24, patrol officers were called to a reported vehicle burglary in progress in the 4000 block of Reily Lane. They quickly located two people believed to be involved. They also found evidence at the scene that linked the suspects to the crime.

One of the suspects is identified as 19-year-old Frederick Jackson, and the other is a juvenile. While searching the area, officers found the vehicle driven by Jackson parked nearby. Inside, they found several items taken in recent burglaries in the area, including a stolen semi-automatic handgun. The items were linked to burglaries near Village Green Drive and neighboring streets.

Jackson and the juvenile are each charged with 12 counts of simple burglary. Jackson also faces a charge of illegal possession of a stolen firearm. Police believe the two may be responsible for additional burglaries in the area, and the investigation continues.

Officers remind you to lock your vehicle doors and keep valuables out of plain sight, or remove them from the car altogether.
