Two Juveniles Saved from Shreveport House Fire by SFD
On Monday, May 1, 2023, at 11:26 p.m., the Shreveport Fire Department responded to the report of a smell of smoke in the vicinity of Pennsylvania Avenue and East Kings Hwy. Within five (5) minutes the dispatched unit was able to locate a single-story structure with flames visible from the back corner of the house in the 100 block of Arthur Ave. Fire crews were able to quickly begin an interior attack and extinguish the fire.
It took the efforts of 21 fire personnel operating 8 units working together to bring the fire under control around 12:00 a.m. on May 2, 2023. The house was occupied at the time of the incident, and firefighters were able to quickly locate and assist two juveniles out of the house without incident.
There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians reported. The cause of the fire is unknown and is still under investigation. A full assessment of the damage is not currently available. The home did not have smoke detectors installed. Smoke alarms save lives. Smoke alarms that are properly installed and maintained play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries.
