Three Arrested for Late Night Texarkana Gunfight
Three men have been arrested after a late night shooting incident in Texarkana, Texas.
48-year-old Jerry Houff went to his former mother-in-law's house in the 2200-block of West 16th Street in Texarkana, Tex., last night without her permission to speak to his ex-wife while armed with a .38 caliber pistol. Houff was confronted by 45-year-old Vincent Edmond while in the house and was disarmed.
The two struggled and worked their way back outside. According to Texarkana Police, Edmond then gave Houff's gun to Houff's son, 22-year-old Jeremy Heard.
Heard fired one shot towards Edmond. Edmond then fired back at Heard with his own 9mm pistol, hitting the 22-year-old twice in the upper body.
Houff and Heard both left the scene to get medical treatment for Heard's gunshot wounds. Edmond met officers at the Bi-State Justice Center in Texarkana.
After going over the details of what happened, all three men were arrested for their roles in the incident.
Jerry Houff was charged with burglary of a habitation with a $50,000 bond. His son, Jeremy Heard, was charged with deadly conduct with a $50,000 bond. Vincent Edmond was charged with aggravated assault, also with a $50,000 bond.
Texarkana, Texas, police officials do not plan to make any additional arrests.
