During November, you can give blood at LifeShare Blood Centers in honor of a Veteran. Every donor at the center will be provided a card indicating they gave blood in honor of a Veteran. The donor can add a personal message of thanks and their signature. LifeShare will be sending the signed cards to Veterans through Operation Gratitude.

"Veterans have provided an immeasurable gift to all Americans. Still, there are many who want to give though blood donation but can’t because of military travel or health reasons that prohibit it. By giving blood in honor of a Veteran, donors are providing a life-saving resource for them and our country, just as they gave so much of themselves for us," says Tina Hooper, spokesperson for LifeShare Blood Centers.

Approximately seven percent of our country is comprised of Veterans, many of them needing medical care and blood products. LifeShare Blood Centers provides blood to Veterans’ Medical Centers in Shreveport and Alexandria, La., as well as local hospitals where many Veterans are treated.

A patriotic-themed, "Honor. Duty. Privilege. Proud American Blood Donor," t-shirt will also be given to blood donors when donating blood in November. Give blood at 8910 Linwood Ave. in Shreveport, 1523 Doctors Dr. in Bossier City, La., 1321 College Dr. in Texarkana, Texas, or on a mobile blood drive in the area. Call 318-222-7770 or go to LifeShare's website for hours and mobile blood drive locations.
