Shreveport police are trying to identify and catch the suspect responsible for the armed robbery of a local liquor store that left a local man dead.

A man armed with a handgun got into a confrontation with a security officer working at Thrifty Liquor in the 8400 block of Linwood Avenue. During the altercation, the suspect fired a round, which struck 56-year-old Michael Wayne Henry in the upper body. He died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

The suspect made off with an unknown amount of cash, getting into a waiting silver or gray Lincoln Town Car with a black roof, driven by another man.

Portions of the surveillance footage from the business have been released in an effort to identify the bandit. Detectives believe the offender is from the local area and may be responsible for other crimes against businesses in the recent past.

Anyone with information that can help is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373, or SUBMIT A TIP ONLINE. A substantial reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
