Shreveport Public Assembly & Recreation (SPAR) announces the 2nd annual Battle on the Border High School Football Showcase to be held on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Shreveport’s Independence Stadium (home of the AdvoCare V-100 Independence Bowl). This historic sporting event will highlight some of the top high school football programs in the southern region and country.

The quality of powerhouse high school football teams selected and their respective fan base will surely take high school football in this region to new heights. The City of Shreveport envisions the Battle on the Border High School Football Showcase becoming a model in bringing wholesome athletic events to Independence Stadium and this region.

The matchups this year will feature C.E. Byrd High School of Shreveport, Louisiana versus Marshall High School of Marshall. Texas, at 3:00pm, a rematch from last year, with Marshall seeking revenge of their loss to Byrd. The second game will feature West Monroe High School of West Monroe, Louisiana versus Calvary Baptist Academy of Shreveport, Louisiana, at 7:00pm. Ticket prices are $10 pre-sale and $15 the day of the game. Tickets grant admission to both games.
