Shreveport's Sam Burns shot a second round 77, bouncing back from an opening 89, in the amateur star's first appearance in a PGA tournament.

The Calvary High senior, playing in San Antonio's Valero Texas Open, played his second round at five over par round and finished with a 36 hole total of 166, 22 over par.

The 18 year old's opening round was played on a day with winds gusting up to 40 miles per hour. None of the players in Burns morning bracket finished their rounds under par, the first time in tour history that at least one player in a group has failed to finish in red numbers.

The tourney's two day leader is tour vet Jimmy Walker at six under par.
