With all of the recent wrangling over Shreveport's iconic Fairgrounds Field, it seems like it's just a matter of time before the venerable old ballfield will be gone forever.  With that in mind, I thought it would be good for all of us to take one last stroll around this incredible former home of hot dogs, homeruns, and America's pastime - Shreveport style.

Thanks to the extraordinary photographic skills of longtime Shreveport resident  Ron DeBello, we get to take an amazing peek into the very closely guarded and totally off-limits Fairgrounds Field.  Before we do, just be warned - you can not actually go there.

Before you know it, Shreveport's historic Fairgrounds Field will be will be exactly that - history. Once the legal wrangling is done, the proverbial endangered-bat-guano will hit the fan and the once glorious Ratchet-City cathedral to baseball will be demolished and gone.

Before it "bats" its final inning, let's take a final look at the glory that once was. I warn you though, it's kind of like seeing that super-hot girl from high school 20 years later - and time has not been kind.
