A Shreveport resident is feared drowned in the Destin, Florida area.

Not much information has been released yet, but the Coast Guard has issued a news release which says

The Coast Guard along with state and local responders, are searching for a boater who went missing after he fell overboard near Destin, Florida on Thursday evening.

The missing man is described as a 55-year-old African American man last seen in the water without a life jacket. He was wearing black swim trunks and a mint green t-shirt.

The Coast Guard in Mobile got a report from Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office that a boater had fallen overboard a few hundred yards off of Marler Bayou and did not resurface. The Coast Guard along with Florida Fish and Wildlife and the Destin Fire Department have been searching for the man.

KEEL News has learned who this victim is, but we are awaiting the release until family members have been notified. As soon as that is done, we will update our information.
