How Was the Substation Paid For?
The substation was approved by voters in a bond election back in April of 2024. $4.5 million dollars was approved for substations across the city. This dollar amount will pay for three substations because the bids came in at about $1.5 million dollars apiece. City leaders had hoped to have four substations but there's not enough money for the fourth at this time. This will be the first substation of the three completed.

This substation will also have a designated area for doing things like a custody exchange or picking up things you might have purchased online. It will be well lit and on camera to give residents a sense of security during these kinds of encounters.
Where Will the Other Substations Be Located?
One of the substations is planned for North Market Street on property donated by the North Shreveport Business Association. Construction of that facility is already underway. A 3rd police substation will be built in east Shreveport at the corner of St. Vincent and 70th Street at the Cedar Grove Park. All three of the substations are using the same model so this will cut down on design costs.
