UPDATE: Sources now tell KEEL News that authorities have located the plane. We're told the plane was located in the Red River, near the runways of the Downtown Airport.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Multiple Shreveport Police units, along with other first responders, are searching for a plane in North Shreveport.

Sources tell KEEL News that a plane took off from the Downtown Airport and "went straight up, and came straight down". It's been suggested that the plane came down on the Bossier side of the Red River. Bill Davis from the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office has said that deputies on the Bossier side of the river are currently deployed to look for evidence of the plane.

Witnesses say they've seen multiple units, and even drones deployed in the air, around the area that is being investigated.

The area has been dealing with dense fog all day, but at this time its unknown if that played any role in the situation.

Online flight records show the path the plane took, leaving the Downtown Airport, before losing contact near the Red River:
