Shreveport Officer Caught on Video Cursing at a Young Suspect

A Shreveport Police Officer is causing a social media firestorm after video is released showing his response escalating while dealing with a local resident.

On the video you can clearly see the officer lose his cool. On this video, you can hear the officer screaming at a young man. The officer uses some pretty foul language while yelling at the man. Here's some of what you will see and hear:

“Damn right I’ll put my hands on you, any f***** time I want to. You f****** swing on me mother f*****, I’ll whip your f****** a**. Record it, record me whipping his a**.

SPD issued this statement over the weekend:

"Shreveport Police Chief Alan Crump has ordered an inquiry into a video which recently surfaced on social media in which a Shreveport Police patrol officer is seen engaging a man in a manner not in line with departmental practices. A preliminary investigation into the officers actions is underway and appropriate personnel actions will be administered according to departmental policy."

The officer involved is reportedly Gary Thomas who was fired by SPD after he was arrested last year on a domestic battery charge by Bossier City Police. He was apparently reinstated to SPD after appealing his firing.
