Shreveport Mudbugs Top NAHL in Attendance
The Shreveport Mudbugs hockey team got good news this weekend, when the official attendance numbers for the 2018-2019 regular season were released by the North American Hockey League. The Bugs, who had been among league attendance leaders in both of their first two seasons, were the NAHL's latest #1 with an average game attendance of 2,830, with a total of 84,886 fans going through the turnstyles.
The attendance figures were another bright spot for the Mudbugs, who in just three seasons in the 24-team-league, have been named Franchise of the Year (2017-17), won the league championship Robertson Cup (2017-18), now top all other franchises in fan loyalty.
Behind the Bugs in second spot were the Corpus Christi Ice Rays, who averaged 2,573 per game. The Fairbanks Ice Dogs came in third at 2,244 per home contest, The Amarillo Bulls and Lone Star (Fort Worth) Brahmas finished fourth and fifth, with 2,220 and 2,125 fans, respectively.
The attendance totals were also another triumph for hockey in the south, with five of the teams in the Mudbugs division finishing in the league's top ten in attendance.
The Bugs open their 2019 playoff schedule this weekend against Lone Star on the road, but return home for games three and four in the best of five series on Friday and Saturday, April 19 and 20. For complete Mudbugs playoff schedule and ticket information, JUST CLICK HERE!
