In about a year Shreveport residents will have to decide who should be Mayor of the city for the next four years. Some candidates are already in and running for the seat. Incumbent Mayor Adrian Perkins says he’s running for re-election. But there are several other unannounced candidates who are being encouraged to run.

Some experts will tell you if Mayor Adrian Perkins decides to run for re-election he would be hard to beat. But there are others who claim he will have a hard time regaining some of his base that he pulled together to win the seat. He admitted he "stubbed his toe" early on in his administration with the insurance deal. Can he recover from that? That remains to be seen.

An unscientific poll on KEEL earlier this summer showed Republican Jim Taliaferro with 30% support to 18% for Shreveport City Councilwoman LeVette Fuller. Health Care Consultant Markey Pierre got 10% and Caddo Parish Commissioner Mario Chavez polled 9%.
From all of the folks I have talked to, it does not look like Fuller will run and Pierre is not likely to jump into politics. But many other names have surfaced and the behind the scenes campaigning and fundraising is moving full steam ahead.

The election for Mayor of Shreveport is not until Tuesday, November 8, 2022. So a lot can change between now and then.
