Brown says the Mardi Gras parades have a $20 million dollar overall economic impact on Shreveport and Bossier City. The direct tax dollars collected for Shreveport top the $700,000 dollar mark while Bossier gets more than $200,000 in direct tax dollars as a result of the parades.

Brown also says the parades put our community in the national spotlight. She says the parades rival the Independence Bowl in terms of the number of people who find out about our region from attending or seeing coverage of the parades.
