The City of Shreveport has issued a public notice telling drivers about some temporary lane closures that will take place on Kings Highway.

These closures will be between I-20 and I49 from December 8th through December 12th, during the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. each day. The roadway will not be fully closed, only one travel lane will be closed at a time to ensure that traffic can continue through the area.

The reason for these lane closures is to provide a safe work area for construction workers doing drainage work in the travel lanes. This job requires workers and their equipment to be positioned close to moving traffic, and the lane closures are to protect both the work crews and drivers.

During the closure, drivers on Kings Highway are urged to be careful when driving through the construction zone. Drivers should slow down, pay attention, follow all signs, and follow instructions from flaggers.

Drivers are reminded that construction zones can present unexpected conditions, such as lane shifts, workers near the roadway, or slow-moving equipment.

From The City of Shreveport:

"The City of Shreveport appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as this work is completed. Further questions may be directed to the City of Shreveport Department of Public Works."
