Shreveport Father and Son Arrested for Gun and Drug Charges

The Shreveport Police's Violent Crimes Abatement Team (VCAT) with other law enforcement partners have arrested a father and son on drug and gun charges.

SPD's VCAT team and the Shreveport City Marshal's Office, SPD's Warrant Unit, the SPD Vice Unit, and The Office of Juvenile Justice started an investigation to the activities of Valentine Carter Jr. for suspected gun trafficking. Investigators were able to find Carter Jr. at a home on Short Leaf Drive, and got a search warrant for the house.

SPD executed the warrant on the home and were able to safely detain everyone inside including Carter Jr. Police searched the place and were able to find the following:

· (2) 7.62x39mm semi-automatic pistols

· (1) .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol

· (1) 9mm semi-automatic pistol

· 1,418 grams of marijuana

· 50 grams of THC-infused edibles

While SPD Detectives were investigating, they also identified Carter Jr's father Valentine Carter Sr., being involved in selling marijuana.

Both Carter Jr. and Carter Sr. were arrested for the following:

Carter Jr.:

o Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana

o Illegal Carrying of a Weapon with a Controlled Dangerous Substance

o Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

Carter Sr.:

o Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana

o Illegal Carrying of a Weapon with a Controlled Dangerous Substance

Both men were taken to the Shreveport City Jail, and all evidence was processed for court proceedings.
