
Will Shreveport’s Data Center Get the Green Light This Week
You have a few more chances to speak out this week about a proposed data center for Shreveport.
The Public Safety Committee of the Caddo Parish Commission is hosting a meeting to discuss the “safety, location and other related issues regarding Data Centers in Shreveport/Caddo”. The meeting is today at 11am at Government Plaza.
Commissioner Ken Epperson chairs this committee and he represents the area in west Shreveport where this 2.8 million square foot project is planned to be built. Epperson is getting lots of feedback from his constituents. So far, he has voted against any plan to move this project forward.
Commissioners John E. Atkins, Ed Lazarus, John-Paul Young and Stormy Gage-Watts serve on this committee.

There is also a meeting tonight (Tuesday) at 6pm at the Bill Cockrell Recreation Center on Pines Road in the district where this data center is proposed.

The full Shreveport City Council meets on Thursday at 3pm to take a final vote on the data center proposal. The developers have filed an appeal to the council for a special exception use for the property on Greenwood Road for this massive complex.

What Happens if Data Center Vote Fails
Justyn Dixon with the NLEP has told KEEL News, if the vote is not positive for this project on Thursday, he expects this applicant to move on to another location, which would be a huge loss for Shreveport.
