Shreveport College Students Get Financial Help
More Shreveport students will be going to college thanks to scholarships and endowments this week announced by LSU-S Interim Chancellor Paul Sisson and The LSUS Foundation.
The total amount for two new endowed professorships and two endowed scholarships for first generation college students was $100,000. The money would come as an initial $60,000 contribution by private donors and $40,000 in matching funds from the Board of Regents.
Donors Riemer and Marcia Calhoun established a professorship in Education. James C. and Ann W. Gardner contributed a professorship in Civic Engagement and Leadership, and the Chandlers and an anonymous donor gave scholarships for first generation college students.
