Three young adults were arrested in Longview after trying to hitch a free ride from Shreveport to California in a Union Pacific rail car.

Union Pacific Railroad crews noticed one man and two women, plus a dog, on one of the rail cars and alerted Longview Police.

The train stopped and Longview police officers found 19-year-old Nathaniel Kerr, 18-year-old Felicia Torres, and 25-year-old Deajoney Brooks on the train.  Kerr and Torres are from California, Brooks is from Arizona.

Longview Police Officer Kristie Brian told KEEL News the trio said they got on the train in Shreveport en route to California.

Brian could not say why the three were on the train.  She added stowaways usually run into the woods before authorities can reach them, so an arrest like this is uncommon for the Longview Police Department.

The three were arrested for interfering with railroad property.  The dog was taken to the Humane Society of Northeast Texas.
