A fast response by the Shreveport Fire Department early Wednesday morning resulted in fire crews being able to quickly extinguish a rapidly progressing fire and save an entire apartment building.
SFD units responded to the Aspen Apartments located at 9730 Baird Rd at 12:12 a.m. Engine 17 and Truck 17 were on the scene within three minutes and began extinguishing the fire and evacuating residents from the adjoining apartments.
SFD believes the fire started in a support column and spread to the attic area of the building. Two residents were displaced, and some apartments had minor smoke damage.
It took the efforts of over 30 firefighters 33 minutes to bring this fire under control. Several units sustained smoke and water damage and some residents will be temporarily displaced. No injuries were reported during this incident.
The cause of this fire is currently under investigation.
