Shreveport Home Catches Fire on New Year's Eve

At 9:09 p.m. on December 31, 2024 Shreveport Fire Department was dispatched to the 1900 block of Horton Avenue for a report of a house fire.

Engine 3 arrived first on scene within 6 minutes to find smoke coming from the garage and roof of the structure. It took the efforts of 8 fire units and 24 firefighters to bring the incident under control.

Occupants were home at the time of the incident and alerted to the fire by a neighbor. American Red Cross information was provided to the citizens for assistance. No injuries to firefighters or citizens have been reported at this time.

The origin and cause of the fire remains under investigation by Shreveport Fire Investigators within the Shreveport Fire Prevention Bureau.
