Shreveport Man Found Guilty of 2024 Murder Case
A Shreveport man who shot and killed his former domestic partner and her mother, and attempted to kill her father has been found guilty in Caddo District Court.
The state called nine witnesses to the stand to prove that 32 year-old Donald Dewayne White II walked in to the home of his common-law wife's parents in January of 2024. Once White was inside the home, he shot and killed his former partner's mother and shot her father, who survived. The father went on to identify White as the shooter during trial.
White's estranged partner tried to run away, but White followed, shooting the woman four times. Despite an attempt at life-saving efforts from Shreveport Police, the woman died. There were also three small children inside the home at the time of the shooting. None were injured.
After being identified by the father of White's estranged partner, he was arrested. During an interview, White confessed to the shooting in a recorded interview that was played to the jury in court.
The jury returned a verdict of guilty-as-charged for two counts of second-degree murder and one for attempted second-degree murder.
From the Caddo DA:
"The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Jason Waltman and Chris Bowman. Mr. White acted in his own defense but was assisted by Harry Johnson.
When White returns to Judge Hathaway's court September 19, 2025, for sentencing, he faces mandatory life terms without benefit or probation, parole or suspension of sentence for the two murder convictions and at least ten and up to 50 years, also without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence, for the attempted murder conviction."
