Massive Police Response to Shooting in Southeast Shreveport
Another shooting in Shreveport. Just before 7am Monday (7/10/23) Caddo Parish 9-1-1 received a call about a shooting in Southeast Shreveport in the 9400 block of Crooked Creek Drive. Witnesses claim that the shooting was a domestic situation between neighbors, but soon after a 65 year old man was shot, the suspect barricaded himself inside a home in the area and started firing from inside of the home.
Reports are saying that the suspect began shooting at police when they arrived on the scene. Police have backed off of the scene, and no officers are reported as shot at this time.
Witnesses are saying they saw the suspect with a long-barreled gun, possibly a rifle. As of 8:45am there were over 30 police units and 18 medical units on the scene of the shooting.
Police are urging people in the area to stay inside and away from windows. The shooting is not currently active, and Police are working to resolve this issue as peacefully as possible.
UPDATE: After an hours-long standoff with police, the house caught fire with the suspect inside. Fire crews are currently working to extinguish the fire. Flames and smoke are billowing out of the windows, and cautious rescue efforts are underway.
