Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about rumors of a political "deal" to gain his endorsement of incumbent Shreveport mayor Ollie Tyler.

According to a text sent to a number of media outlets - 101.7 / 710 KEEL included - Mayor Tyler was seeking an endorsement from the Sheriff, in exchange for letting him select the next Shreveport Police Chief. Prator, after denying that the offer of of a deal had ever been made, told KEEL listeners that "I'm not starting to trade off this for that for my political endorsement. I'm not a political whore like that."

The Sheriff did, however, say that whoever is in the mayor's chair to select the next SPD leader should reach out to area law enforcement officials to discuss what qualifications and qualities make a good chief.
