Sentencing Continues for Barksdale Airman
Airman 1st class Isaiah Edwards was convicted of murder last week in the stabbing death of his roommate Airman 1st class Bradley Hale. Edwards admitted to the killing, but claimed he acted in self defense. However, despite his pleas of innocence, a panel of 7 Air Force Members convicted Edwards of murder.
Today, the 7 member jury will resume deliberations to decide Edwards' fate. The prosecution is asking the panel for the maximum sentence of life in prison without parole. The defense is asking for a much lighter sentence, saying that Edwards should receive no more than 10 years behind bars.
The panel deliberated for 2 hours on Friday before adjourning for the weekend and will return to continue discussing Edwards' fate today.
