New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees will undergo surgery on his thumb tomorrow in L.A, according to ESPN reporter Ed Werder.

Initial reports were a 6 week recovery time for surgery, but that's on a ballpark number.

As Werder reports, the exact time frame won't be determined until post surgery.

Brees tore a ligament in his right thumb after it collided with the hand of Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald.

Backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will make his first start of the season this Sunday when the Saints play the Seattle Seahawks on the road.
