
Honoring Local Heroes During National Police Week Including Marc Brock
It was a somber moment for the nation as we paused to remember law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. A Caddo Parish man was honored during the ceremony.
We are in the middle of National Police Week 2026 and this is a great time to remember the sacrifices made by some heroes. In northwest Louisiana, we have to take a minute to honor Marc Brock, whose left a legacy of service across this region.
Remembering Marc Brock
Vivian Police Officer Marc Brock was honored during this week’s reflections. This hero lost his life serving a warrant last year in Vivian. Brock was not only honored for his service as an officer, but he was also honored for his service to the community and to the children of our region.
United States Attorney Zachary Keller praised Brock for his commitment to "keep us safe every day."
Five From Louisiana Were Honored
1. Officer Marc Tyler Brock
Department: Vivian Police Department
Date of Death: November 14, 2025
Bio: A North Caddo Magnet High School graduate and lifelong resident of the community he served, Officer Brock was just 25 years old when he was killed. He began his career as a public communications officer before becoming a patrol officer. Known for his "heart of gold" and deep kindness, he was a fixture at local school events and a devoted family man. He was tragically shot and killed while serving a warrant.
2. Sergeant Caleb Eisworth
Department: Baton Rouge Police Department
Date of Death: August 21, 2025
Bio: A veteran of the Baton Rouge Police Department, Sergeant Eisworth was a highly respected leader and a mentor to many young officers. He was known for his steady hand and commitment to the capital city. His family and over 40 fellow officers traveled to Washington, D.C. this week to honor his memory during the candlelight vigil.
3. Deputy Charles Riley
Department: Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office
Date of Death: October 6, 2025
Bio: Deputy Riley was a cornerstone of the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office, described by Sheriff Brett Stassi as a brave man who "made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others." He was a dedicated law enforcement professional whose loss was felt deeply throughout the Plaquemine area and the surrounding parishes.
4. Sergeant Grant Candies
Department: St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office
Date of Death: July 7, 2025
Bio: Sergeant Candies was a long-time member of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office. He was remembered as a professional who served with distinct honor and was well-loved by his peers. To honor him this week, fellow officers from St. Tammany participated in a 300-mile bike ride to the national memorial in Washington, D.C.
5. Lieutenant Allen Credeur
Department: Rayne Police Department
Date of Death: January 18, 2025
Bio: Lieutenant Credeur served the Rayne community with distinction for years. Known for his loyalty to the force and his compassionate approach to policing, he was a leader within the department. His name was formally read among the 109 fallen officers during today's memorial ceremonies.
All five died in the line of duty during 2025. In all, 109 names have been added to the Memorial in Washington D.C.
"During National Police Week, we pause to honor the courageous men and women... especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice," Keller stated. For local families and colleagues, that sacrifice is felt most acutely when names like Marc Brock are mentioned in the same breath as the values of loyalty and dedication.
