When disaster strikes, the American Red Cross depends on its trained volunteers. But how do you become one of those volunteers? The local chapter of the American Red Cross is holding three volunteer training sessions -- with the first one scheduled for this Saturday. All of the classes are free but you do have to register in advance -- either by calling the American Red Cross office on Linwood or going to the Louisiana Red Cross website. This Saturday's training will deal with shelter operations in the morning and logistics overview in the afternoon. All of the training is being done in the old Harley Davidson building on Brook Hollow Drive -- off Bert Kouns -- behind the Auto Mall Car Wash. More training is planned for Saturday, August 27th, and Friday, September 9th.
