Popular Cars in Louisiana Could Catch Fire: Urgent Recall

It isn't like Shreveport motorists need another issue to worry about.  Between the major construction that has begun on I-20 and the potholes and road conditions throughout the state that could send your vehicle to the alignment shop on a regular basis... now there's another concern... cars bursting into flames.

There's been a recall of over 3.3 million vehicles due to a manufacturing defect that could lead to the engine compartment combusting. Here's a list of the vehicles the NHTSA is concerned about.

• 2015-2017 K900 
• 2010-2015 Optima 
• 2011-2013 Optima Hybrid 
• 2011-2017 Rio 
• 2010 Rondo 
• 2011-2014 Sorento 
• 2011-2013 Soul 
• 2010-2013 Sportage

If your car is on the recall list, you should make arrangements to have the issue resolved as quickly as possible.  But until you are able to do so, there are some precautions you should be aware of.

• Park Outside:  For safety concerns park your affected Kia or Hyundai outside away from structures, not in a garage or covered parking.
• Stay Informed:  It's easy to keep yourself informed on recalls and safety information by checking the NHSTA website.
• Spread Awareness:  When you discover new information, share with your family and friends, as well as other Louisiana drivers via social media.
