Operation I.M.P.A.C.T. is returning to Shreveport's Cedar Grove neighborhood this month. The special initiative was implemented last summer by Police Chief Willie Shaw to focus on emerging crime trends and citizen complaints. It's actually an acronym for "Intelligence-led Multi-Pronged Assault on Crime Trends." And statistics show that residential burglaries in District-11, which includes Cedar Grove, have climbed from 93 through the end of May last year to 129 for the same period this year. So police plan to target that area with additional manpower the reduce those numbers. Operation I.M.P.A.C.T. is made up of several components of the police department and functions on a 24-hour-a-day basis.
