Pedestrian Struck And Killed In North Shreveport
The Shreveport Police Department is investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian in north Shreveport that happened Monday evening.
A little after 8:30 PM Monday, Shreveport Police were dispatched to the 4000 block of North Market Street (Highway 1) for a vehicle accident. When officers arrived on scene, they learned that a pedestrian had been struck by a truck traveling northbound on North Market Street near U.S. Highway 71. The victim, 31-year-old Lentavise O. Bowman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bowman was apparently attempting to cross North Market Street from the west side of the roadway to the east, when he was struck by a 2009 Chevrolet pickup traveling northbound along North Market Street. The driver of the truck, 58-year-old Doyle Daupin of Plain Dealing, Louisiana, remained on the scene and was taken to a local hospital where he submitted to mandatory toxicology testing as required by state law.
While the crash remains under investigation, impairment was not immediately expected as a factor in the crash.
