Caddo Parish Coroner Names Fatal Accident Victim
Caddo Parish Deputies are investigating a single vehicle crash fatality on the north end of Caddo Parish.
Caddo Sheriff patrol Sgt. Michael McConnell said just before 10pm in the 11000 block of Trees City Road, a male driver in a older model SUV traveled east on Louisiana Highway 2, crossed the centerline on the north side of the roadway in the curve. The driver overcorrected and the vehicle rolled over several times. The driver was partially ejected and did not have on a seatbelt.
As a result of the crash, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by Caddo Fire District 7. No other occupants were in the vehicle. The release of the victim's name is pending by the Caddo Parish Coroner's Office.
The crash investigation is still on going.
During the investigation, the Caddo Coroner was able to determine the identity of the man killed in the crash.
James Earl Smith, 66, of Karnack Texas, died when his vehicle ran off the road just before 10 p.m. in the 11000 block of Trees City Road, state Highway 2, in Vivian. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The decedent was positively identified through fingerprint comparison.
The crash remains under investigation by the Caddo Parish Sheriff's office, to which further inquiries should be directed.
An autopsy was ordered.
