The LSU Tigers football program underwent structural changes this offseason, bringing in new Head Coach Lane Kiffin. But while Kiffin was building out his staff, he wanted to bring back some LSU history. He did just that when he brought back former Head Coach Ed Orgeron, a National Championship coach, to serve as an Assistant Coach for recruiting and defense.

Coach O is a living legend in Louisiana, previously building the 2019 LSU National Championship team. His return to the coaching staff was made prior to LSU's fall camp.

Details on Ed Orgeron Health Scare and Hospital Status

Orgeron has been away from the LSU football facility for nearly a month due to an undisclosed illness. Lane Kiffin initially sent Orgeron home from practice on August 17th...prior to the start of the season.

As part of his press conference, Kiffin said that he and Orgeron joked about the coach never going to the hospital, some reports today are that Orgeron did have to spend some time hospitalized due to this illness...

Ed Orgeron Recovery Timeline and Coaching Return

Most indications are that the former National Championship coach is currently improving, and remains engaged with the team from home. Orgeron communicates regularly with Kiffin, and continues to display his focus on the roster.

There is no official timetable for when Orgeron will return to resume his assistant coaching duties. The LSU program continues to monitor his progress as they prepare for their upcoming matchup against the Ole Miss Rebels...a major test for this year's team.
