One Dead in Plane Crash Near Natchitoches

 A plane crashed Sunday morning in Natchitoches leaving one man dead. 

KALB reports the crash happened around 11 a.m. just west of Hwy 1 in a field. 

According to Natchitoches Police Captain Brad Walker, there were two people in the plane at the time of the crash. One died, the other is currently in the hospital. The scene is just one mile north of the Hwy. 1 bypass.

Police have identified the two men. The pilot, Jack McCain, 81, of Natchitoches, was airlifted to a Shreveport hospital. Thad Longlouis, 82, also of Natchitoches, has been identified as the deceased.

NPD said the plane is a Cessna 172 single engine plane.
