One Dead In Officer Involved Shooting in Downtown Shreveport
Shreveport Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that left one man dead Sunday afternoon. According to SPD, the incident happened around 5:40pm on Clyde Fant Parkway near the Eldorado Casino.
According to a spokesperson from Shreveport Police, the officer working in the area noticed a man loitering near the Eldorado. The man had previously been banned from the property.
When the officer approached the man, a foot chase began. Eventually, the two got into a physical altercation in front of the Proud Mary. According to reports, during the struggle, the man allegedly went for the Officer's firearm. To stop the attack, the officer shot the man. The suspect was taken to University Health where he later died.
The officer did receive minor injuries in the scuffle. An investigation into the shooting in on going.
