Well it is almost time for the torch to be passed. Robert J. Wright is retiring and we can now tell you who will be the new co-host of the KEEL morning show with me.

He is Mike Martindale, a Shreveport native who is a Northwood High School graduate. He attended LSUS. Mike has been married to his lovely wife Dena for 37 years. They have 2 children. Casey, his son, is a sous chef in Hawaii. His daughter lives in Dallas. He is very close to both of his children.

Mike is an award-winning 40 year veteran in the local theatre community. He played Oscar Madison in The Odd Couple, Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof, and Otto Frank in the Diary of Anne Frank. He's also played the Cowardly Lion in Wizard of Oz and Thenardier in Les Miserables.

Martindale is politically conservative and is a 40 year radio veteran. You most recently heard him on afternoons on KRMD. But I worked with Mike way back in the 80's when we were both on KWKH.

He's excited to be joining the morning show with me and says "it's intimidating to follow in the footsteps of such a legend, but I am just stupid enough to try and I look forward to the adventure."

My longtime partner, Robert J. Wright says we could not have picked a better guy to step in to this incredible role. He says Mike is a spectacular radio guy who knows the audience and our community. He wishes Mike and myself all the success and we adjust to the change.

Mike admits he is a horrible golfer, but he does like to get out there and hit some balls in the lake.

Mike's wife volunteers with the Humane Society and Mike will often be helping with those events.

Please tune in each weekday morning and give Mike a listen. I think you will be very happy.

Players Born In The Shreveport Area Picked In The NFL Draft

These players were born in the Shreveport area, but did not necessarily play high school or college football in the area. This also doesn't include players born in another area, who moved to Shreveport later in life (Dak Prescott, Trent Taylor)
