Shreveport has certainly had its share of A-List actors film here.   Sandra Bullock, Samuel L. Jackson, Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman, Diane Keaton and Denzel Washington, to name but a few.  And Kevin Costner liked Shreveport so much, he filmed three movies here, and gave a free concert with his band as a thank you to the area!

Any time you do a “Top” list… unless you’re writing about top-grossing, or some other definitive figure, the list is subjective.  So, being subjective, some of my criteria for what I would consider ‘best’ are things like over-all production value, writing, and of course, acting.  And granted, I haven’t seen a LOT of the movies that were filmed, even partially, here.  (And my list isn’t just based on films I was in, or worked on… although a couple were really good!). If you Google “Movies filmed in Shreveport,” you might be blown away at the number of movies that actually shot here!  So, all that being said, this would be my “subjective” list, in no particular order, of My Top 5 movies filmed in Shreveport.

The Highwaymen: I, like a lot of people, have been intrigued by the story of Bonnie & Clyde for years.  I have read several books by several different authors that have told more of the true stories of the rather unglamorous life of the criminal couple.  One thing I liked about The Highwaymen, was the fact that they didn’t glorify the outlaws at all.  In fact, they were rarely focused on, and hardly ever even shown on screen.  The story was told from the perspective of… well… The Highwaymen, portrayed brilliantly by Kevin Costner and Woody Harrellson.

Stephen King's The Mist: Now I have to admit, this holds a special place for me because I was on set for over a month as background/shopper in the store. And even though I had already had speaking roles in other films, I took this job to be able to work with director Frank Darrabont, who directed Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile.

The Guardian: Another Kevin Costner feature.  This one really had the feel of a major motion picture with a good, captivating story.

Playing for Keeps: OK, another film I was able to be a small part of, playing a really bad soccer coach.  But it turned out to be a pretty good film.  And I got to do a scene with Gerard Butler, who was a really nice guy.  And he told me I made him laugh so hard he “almost pissed his pants!”  His quote!

Mr. Brooks: This is another film that felt like a “big time” movie with big name stars, including Demi Moore, Kevin Costner and William Hurt. I like the dark stories like this, and this one turned out really well.  I did do a couple days on this one as well, although none of it made it to the screen.
