The Caddo Sheriff's Office says drunk driving is the suspected cause of an early-morning crash in Caspiana. Around 4 a.m., 25-year-old Henry Barrett, II, of Scott, was driving his Ford F-250 northbound on Hwy. 1, when he crossed the center line and traveled onto the southbound shoulder. He then veered back into the southbound lane, where he struck the trailer of an 18-wheeler being driven by 42-year-old Jimmy Foster of Keithville. The trailer was damaged and its rear tires were blown out. Barrett continued on and hit a second 18-wheeler, which ruptured the rig's fuel tank, causing it to catch fire. The driver of that rig -- 38-year-old Vernon Bell of Bossier City -- was able to get out of the cab, but was taken to Willis-Knighton Pierremont with moderate injuries. Foster was taken to the same hospital, and both men were later released. Barrett wasn't injured...he was arrested for DWI.
