Louisiana Film Industry: Shreveport’s Potential Summer Surge

Millennium Lease Negotiations Near Completion
Mayor Arceneaux told KEEL News on Wednesday that the final deal for the expanded Millennium lease is expected by the end of June. The delay hinges on legislative outcomes, particularly the proposed Adam Bass bill, which seeks to shift film tax credit criteria to a regulatory function managed by Louisiana Economic Development (LED). This adjustment could make Shreveport an attractive hub for more permanent film infrastructure investments.
StageWorks: A New Player in the Shreveport Film Scene
StageWorks could become the first site to see production activity this summer. "If I’m guessing, the first thing that will happen at Stage Works is likely to be some film production," Mayor Arceneaux said, underscoring the potential for Shreveport to re-emerge as a film production hotspot.
Tax Credit Adjustments: A Boost for Shreveport?
The Adam Bass bill, backed by the governor and supported by Mayor Arceneaux, would give LED more flexibility in adjusting tax credit programs, encouraging long-term film infrastructure development rather than short-term projects. "We are very well positioned to take advantage of that," Arceneaux noted.
