A man is clinging to life after being shot by Shreveport Police in Highland Tuesday afternoon. The incident happened near Line and Merrick around 5pm. According to officials, police were responding to reports of a stolen car. The person who reported the car stolen told police that he knew who took the vehicle and claimed the man was armed and dangerous.

As officers approached the car, two suspects fled from  After a brief chase, police popped the vehicles tires and crashed the car. The vehicle then got stuck in an alleyway.

The driver of the car ignored police direction and attempted to get the vehicle free. Officers then fired multiple shots into the vehicle. The man is said to be critically wounded and in grave condition.

Police Chief Alan Crump told the media, "The driver refused all commands by our officers to bring the vehicle to a stop, to show their hands. All those things were refused."

The passenger from the vehicle was taken into custody for questioning.
