Man Shot By Cop after He Tries to Run Over the Shreveport Officer

A man is in the hospital today after trying to run over a Shreveport police officer with his car. It happened in Southeast Shreveport area where a man was sitting in a car on Stratmore Circle doing lewd acts.

A witness called 9-1-1 to report what the man was doing and when officers arrived, they tried to have a conversation with the man, but he put the car in gear and sped off headed directly at an officer who fired one shot, hitting the man in the chest. He's in stable condition.

The officer was also taken to the hospital for a minor hand injury.

Police Chief Willie Shaw responded to the scene along with a bevy of other officers.

Part of the Pepper Tree neighborhood was blocked off as officers investigated the incident.
