Lt. Governor Says Wrestlemania Worth Hundreds of Millions [VIDEO]
Louisiana's Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the economic impact of this week's Wrestlemania in New Orleans.
WWE's Wrestlemania XXXIV will be held Sunday night at the Superdome in New Orleans, the event having been held in the Crescent City as recently as 2014.
Nungesser tells KEEL listeners that even he was surprised at the money the weeklong event brings to the state, saying, "To compare it, it is second in revenue only to the Super Bowl." He adds, "Last year (Wrestlemania) was held in Orlando and it had an econmic impact of $184 million." Nungesser says that this year's event, which has been increased to five days, will bring even more money to Louisiana businesses, pointing out that last year's Wrestlemania drew fans from all fifty states and thirty six countries.
