The LSU Tigers have added a new member their baseball coaching staff.

LSU named Eddie Smith as their new volunteer hitting coach on Tuesday.

The 35-year old Smith, who played for LSU head coach Paul Mainieri while both were at Notre Dame, replaces Sean Ochinko, who was on the Tigers' staff for three seasons.

A native of Olympia, Washington, Smith served as the hitting coach/recruiting coordinator at Tulane the past two seasons.

Smith has also served as an assistant coach at Virginia, Notre Dame, and Santa Clara, prior to serving as head coach at Lower Columbia College from 2014-2017, where he compiled an overall record of 146-49.
