LSU Health Chancellor Battling Coronavirus
Within days of appearing with Governor John Bel Edwards at a COVID-19 briefing in Baton Rouge, LSU Health Shreveport Chancellor Dr. G.E. Ghali tests positive for COVID-19.
Dr. Ghali tested positive on Sunday just three days after appearing with the Governor during his regular briefing.
LSU Health Spokeswoman Lisa Babin sent this statement to KEEL News:
“Dr. G. E. Ghali, Chancellor at LSU Health Shreveport, sends his thanks to all those who have extended their well wishes for his recovery of COVID-19. He tested positive on Sunday after experiencing a slight cough and fever. He received treatment and has convalesced.”
Dr. Ghali reportedly told the Shreveport Times that he has contacted Assistant Health Secretary Dr. Alex Billioux to inform him of the positive test but does not believe the Governor had any significant exposure since they were all wearing masks during the briefing.
Dr. Ghali spoke with KEEL News the day after the briefing with the Governor and sounded like he was feeling good.
